In an effort to provide family fun and entertainment, the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, Inc. proudly sponsors several events yearly. Among these are: This is the Grand Daddy of them all. The 122nd GILLESPIE COUNTY FAIR brings four action filled days and nights at the “oldest, continuously running county fair in Texas”. Whether it’s the carnival, the livestock and agricultural exhibits, or the arts & crafts, the thrill of horse racing or dancing under the hill country sky to the country show of a nationally known performer, this weekend is sure to bring smiles to the entire family.
Live and Simulcast Pari-mutuel Quarter Horse, Thoroughbred and Greyhound Racing:
The summer season brings four weekends of live horse racing at the fairgrounds class 3 track. Live races feature quarter horse and thoroughbred racing as well as special races, trials and futurities. In addition to live horseracing, quarter horse, thoroughbred and greyhound races are simulcast to the Gillespie County Fairground’s beer garden from Texas tracks as well as out of state tracks. Texas Wines and Texas Winners Ten Texas wineries will be participating in the first Texas Wines and Texas Winners wine tasting at the Gillespie County Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 8 at 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wineries include Messina Hof, Becker Vineyards, Fall Creek, Grape Creek, Chisholm Trail, Bell Mountain, Three Dudes, D’Vine Wine, Fredericksburg Winery and Llano Estacado.
